Great leaders of the last global catastrophe -
Yes, great not good - messianic heroes:
Hitler, Mussolini, Franco, Hirohito,
Stalin, de Gaulle, Churchill, Roosevelt
Their successors shaped
an aberrant abundance assumed normal,
locked up leadership of nation
and of Church.
Voices of the freedom, love, peace, justice generation
burned out and caved in,
their fading hope
eclipsed without leadership.
How long will God hide?
How long will ears straining for the voice of a prophet hear only silence?
How can the wind that passes and will not come again teach?
Who will instruct the generation yet unborn?
